Too Much of a Good Thing = Little Rest
I talk often about the importance of taking care of self as the soul of your business. As solopreneur, if you don’t sustain how will your business?
Getting adequate rest to refresh and renew each day is paramount to restoring energy to your mind, body, and soul.
But….did you know some activities can sabotage your ability to fall asleep &/or sustain rest the entire night even though you may be extremely tired?
According to a recent edition of Working Mother, here are some top offenders:
Drinking wine: The suggested limit is a single glass; anything more and you may wake up after a few hours of sleeep.
Watching TV: TV stimulates the mind which is counter productive to getting rest.
Browsing the internet: Studies show that the light from the computer screen disrupts your “circadian rhythm.” Try saying that 3x really fast!! But the bottom line is when this is off, you can’t sleep.
Reading a suspense novel: Avoid mysteries or thrillers energize the brain more than you think.
Taking a hot bath: The body needs to cool down to fall asleep. Try to give yourself an hour beforehand so that this exclusive time remains beneficial to you.
I personally struggle with waking up in the middle of the night for no apparent reason and not being able to fall back to sleep.
How do you stop your brain from operating on overdrive? For me, I keeping a pad and pencil by my nightstand to jot down anything that comes to mind so that I can get it out of my consciousness and go back to sleep — fast!
What are your best tactics for falling back to sleep in the middle of the night? Please add your thoughts and comments below. Thanks so much.
Call to Action: Getting adequate rest is key to functioning at peak capacity throughout the day and evening without fail. Think about the importance of having clarity of thought and vision to devote toward your business too.

Are You Carrying Too Much?
Returned home from morning worship earlier today and boy do I feel refreshed and renewed.
Lately I have been feeling weighed down by the demands of the business. It’s an exciting time – the launch of my upcoming ebook among other things - but at the same time stressful.
My pastor’s message was entitled, “ God’s Got It.”
He outlined 4 ways to demonstrate that God is our source of strength in the midst of challenges and difficulties. Be inspired!
Rejoice in the Lord. We can rejoice because of His omnipresence, the partnership and communion we have with Him, and His promise to never leave nor forsake us.
Represent the Lord. Choose to respond to circumstances instead of reacting to what comes your way. Your countenance and actions should reflect God’s presence in your life. Remember always to exude a spirit of appreciation for all that He has done for you, and anticipate the good that God will continue to bring forth in your life.
Release frustrations. Be anxious for nothing. Remember all the times He’s pulled you through in a lifetime and believe he will do it again. Relax more and let God do what He does best (and that is bless).
Make your requests known. In the midst of your tests and trials, ask the Lord to clarify it’s purpose at this particular time in your life. Seek His provision for what you need, and ask God to give you power and strength to persevere and endure.
Hopefully these tips serve as a powerful reminder to cast your cares unto Him.
Lighten your load today by giving over to God the biggest portion of what weighs you down most.
Trust in His promise to perfect the things that concern you – and live!
Have a FANTASTIC week. : )
